The adaptation to nighttime blooming helps keep desert plants from losing a lot of water (dehydrating) through their blooms. helping with pollination - Because many desert insects are nocturnal (an example of an animal adaptation ), blooming at night helps ensure that desert plants get properly pollinated.

Plant Adaptations. Plant Adaptations. A wetland is a harsh environment physiologically. Aquatic plants can't deal with periodic drying and temperatures tend to be more extreme because the water's shallow terrestrial plants can't deal with long floods. Stresses include anoxia and wide salinity and water fluctuations.

2. Plant adaptations in the tropical rainforest. Such places have hot climate but have heavy rains. So the plants here have drip tips and waxy surfaces on leaves to shed the excess water. Plants have prop roots that help support them in the shallow soils. There is abundance growth of plants and some plants grow on top of the other to reach the sunlight.

Simple primitive plant organisms evolved a series of mechanisms that allowed them to withstand dehydration and colonize terrestrial environments millions of years ago. These adaptations are still present in lower-order plants such as algae, lichens, and bryophytes, but only remain in some 300 or so angiosperm –flowering plants- species.

Incessant rainfall in rainforests is the norm. Hence, leaves of plants growing in such an ecosystem usually have a waxy surface with pointed tips to allow excess rainwater to run-off. Such an adaptation prevents the growth of algae on the leaves which would otherwise block sunlight and reduce the ability of plants to perform photosynthesis. 1.
